Notably, he flourished in his role as Senior Manager of Finance at Softlogic Life Insurance PLC. Shanaka is also a distinguished associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka,  and  he obtained a Special Degree in Business Management and Finance from the University of Kelaniya.
